Windows Storage Server 2003 + Qsan S series or P series
WSS2003 is the server software trimmed-down from Windows Server optimizing on NAS service provision, i.e. serving files and related storage management. If combined with S series, volumes created on S series is running hardware RAID which can be much higher performance than volumes created on WSS2003 itself running the software RAID stack. If combined with P series, WSS 2003 is the NAS gateway to the IP SAN.

Windows Server 2003 + Qsan S series or P series
Any application servers with Windows Server 2003 installed normally got limited internal storage. Through SAS-SAS/SATAII controller serve as a great expander for much bigger disk space. Through GbE interface, with free iSCSI initiator from Microsoft, Qsan iSCSI-SAS/SATAII controller also can be a effective space expander. Windows Server 2003 is equipped with VDS (Virtual Disk Service) which can manage not only Qsan products but other existing storage investment by unified Windows-based interface. VSS (Volume Shadow Copy) gives the unified snapshot control over heterogeneous storage devices. Qsan S series and P series will support both soon to be fully Windows-compliant.

Windows XP / Vista + Qsan P Series
Microsoft also provides free iSCSI initiator on Windows XP and Vista. End users don’t have to buy an expansive hardware HBA to connect an external storage. Now, with one Qsan iSCSI controller storage installed, it can provide multiple connections to the authorized end users which only have workstation OS like Windows XP or Vista. (The Authorization is supported by Qsan iSCSI LUN access control and CHAP function.) By the minimal installation cost, end users can get external storage space in a very sufficient way through the technology of iSCSI.
